Michigan Maritime Museum

Situated on an authentic waterfront campus, the museum’s on-water fleet and hands-on exhibits provide something for everyone. Step aboard the tall ship “Friends Good Will” and envision life as an early Michigan sailor. The Coast Guard boat house pays homage to the bravery of the United States Coast Guard.

The museum’s five structures house various opportunities for engagement. Permanent and rotating exhibits explore Michigan’s maritime history, while a boat-building workshop and period/replica vessels offer practical experiences. The waterfront festivals and events held here benefit from the charming harbor atmosphere of South Haven.

Families are well-catered to with story times from the children’s book library and creative arts and crafts programs. For those interested in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM), drop-in programs provide hands-on learning both indoors and on the waterfront campus.

Evenings come alive with special events like the “Rock the Boat” concert, featuring the 80’s cover band “The 1985 Band.” These events offer food, drinks, and dancing under the stars.

For nature and mindfulness enthusiasts, yoga sessions along the waterfront boardwalk provide a serene experience, connecting with Michigan’s freshwater environment.
